All About Watercolor
Watercolor is a beautiful glowy, luminous medium using soft washes and transparent layers. I have been practicing watercolor for over a decade and it is my most popular medium! I work slowly in many layers to create different values, textures and intensities. Every pet has their own unique coloring so each piece requires custom color mixing to capture subtle variations in fur, light, and personality. All of my paintings are created on high-quality watercolor paper using professional-grade paints.
Choosing The Perfect Photo
The photo that captures your pet’s soul and personality is always the best place to start! Since I paint directly from your photo a high-quality, clear image taken at eye level with bright, natural lighting that shows your pets true coloring will translate beautifully into a painting. I know that sometimes our favorite photo doesn’t always capture all of their details, you’re welcome to send multiple photos for me to reference. My goal is to create a piece of art that truly feels like your pet.
Personalizing Your Portrait
When placing your order, you can include special requests in the notes section. Whether you want to add grass, a favorite toy, remove a collar, add or remove the background, or if there is a special feature of your pet you want to shine like freckles, long whiskers, eye color, etc. I work closely with your requests to make sure they’re included in the final piece. In the painting shown here, my client requested to add grass accents and adjust her Doberman’s floppy ear to stand upright. These small touches make a big difference!
My why 🤍
A pet portrait is more than just a piece of art. It’s a memory, a keepsake, a daily reminder of how special your pet is to you, a conversation starter for visitors, and for the pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, a portrait can hold their spirit close, keeping their memory alive and their love always present in your home. I’m so grateful to my clients who have trusted me to capture their beloved pets through my art. It’s the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done. I look forward to meeting you and your pet and bringing their spirit to life on paper!
